WELCOME TO SPRING!

We are open now at our store in Mackinaw City and have seen a surprising number of people traveling through Mackinaw and even staying in Mackinaw.  There are some shops opening up and hotels are readying for the season.  We have been making about 16 kinds of fudge this week because it has been a rather busy week with spring breakers heading to and from destinations, people opening up their summer cottages and homes, and people traveling to see family for Easter.

Our regular fudge flavors include:  Chocolate, Chocolate Walnut, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Vanilla Pecan, German with coconut and pecans, Chocolate Cherry, Dark Chocolate, Maple Walnut, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip Swirl, and Plain Vanilla.

It’s funny because the old flavors we used to have are flavors of fudge that we may try again.  In the Charlevoix store, that was operated by Fran Murdick and Jerald Murdick back in the 60’s, we always carried Black Walnut fudge and Chocolate Rum Pecan.  Perhaps we should try those again.  We also used to make Pralines on a regular basis, as well as Divinity.  Those two items have become a candy of the past for us, as the new generation does not know what these candies are. 

As the sun gets higher in the sky, we will begin to make more flavors of fudge.  As usual, we will be making our Mint Chocolate Chip, and our Detroit Tiger Fudge – orange citrus with chunks of dark chocolate swirled throughout to make it look like “tiger fudge”.  We are happy to be back in the kitchen making fudge on a daily basis.  Hope to see all of our regular customers stopping by again this year.  It is always fun to talk with you all!
